The best stories are already happening
Carried across borders, written in hands and held in the eyes of those who deserve to be seen.
People carry their stories in how they move through the world.
My work lives at the intersection of documentary and editorial, exploring culture, identity, and human connection. I’m interested in capturing reality as it unfolds, holding a moment in time.
As a Latina photographer, I’m drawn to what feels familiar. The rhythm, resilience, and quiet pride woven into everyday life. Inspired by hardworking families and the worlds they build, I look for stories held in a glance, a gesture, the weight of worn hands. Each image holds both beauty and hardship, the way life so often does.
I'm Patty Zavala. I love photographing people, textures, and the way light makes ordinary things worth staring at. Based in the Pacific Northwest. Originally from Mexico City, raised in Sonora. Published, exhibited.
Over a decade of editorial and commercial work, and still most interested in what happens just before someone looks away.
A conversation on storytelling, culture, and the intention behind my work
Let’s work together
If you are looking for images that feel as alive as the story behind them, let's talk.
